    Thoughts

I was traveling back to the USA after an overseas trip to Africa. I had taken my seat on the aircraft, towards the back of the economy class. Before the doors were closed, one of the female cabin crew came, stood next to where I was sitting. “Are you Mrs. Musau?” she asked.

    “A Royal Priesthood – Pre-Checked”

I was traveling back to the USA after an overseas trip to Africa. I had taken my seat on the aircraft, towards the back of the economy class. Before the doors were closed, one of the female cabin crew came, stood next to where I was sitting. “Are you Mrs. Musau?” she asked. In a split second a picture of how I've seen people being pulled from their seats, probably for another body or bag check, mistaken identity and so on, formed in my mind. I even put together my 'defense', before the lady had said another word. “I have my boarding pass, to prove that this is my seat”. Remember, the lady had not said another word to me. “Please come with me,” she said. Due to my husband's frequent flyer status, I was being upgraded to a better seat; phew!!! What a relief!

Then recently my husband and I were taking a local flight. We had our boarding passes, knew the gate to go to but did not pay attention to the other details on our boarding passes. We proceeded to the security check: “you do not need to remove anything from your bags,” the TSA agent told us - not the computer nor small lotion bottles; we did not even have to remove our shoes either!! We also noticed that the line we had been directed to had very few people, whereas the others had the usual crowd. My husband got curious and further looked at our boarding passes - “TSA pre-checked” were the words printed at the right hand corner of the boarding passes. I was enjoying the benefits of my husband's frequent flyer status.

As I sat down waiting to board the aircraft 1 Peter 2:9 came to mind “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy”. It was like the Holy Spirit reminding me of my position in God, the King of the universe, I am His child. I don't have to be with the crowd, because He has set my path and put in place all the people I need in my life, all that I need in my life. He knows me through and through, and therefore do not need any 'body or bag search'.

Today, the 'pre-checked' lane is open to us. Let us not be comfortable with the familiar but live the life God has made available to us. Some relationships we maybe in maybe doing us more harm than good, pulling us down rather than building us, those, too we have to get out of. But we have to choose (Deut. 30:19, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live”). Yes, our choices have a tremendous effect on our children and future generations, let us choose wisely. Let us be willing to let go and let God, and enjoy the blessings He has ordained for us, the blessings that have our names on them. Today, let us also choose the people we associate with: are they lifting us, helping us fulfill our life's mission, and vice versa. As someone put it, “Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you” for then will we be able to find ‘the pre-checked’ lane.

WE ARE ROYALTY, WE ARE PRE-CHECKED!!!
